Additional Activities for Earth Day Coloring Pages

These pages are a fun activity and a gentle reminder of our responsibility to care for our planet. Whether you’re an adult seeking a mindful coloring experience or an educational activity for children, these Earth Day coloring pages are a wonderful way to honor our home planet.

However, they are perfect for more than just coloring. The following ideas will give you a great start for Earth Day activities:

Earth Day Coloring and Learning Stations

  • Objective: To teach about different environmental themes through coloring and educational stations.
  • Materials: Various Earth Day coloring pages (each featuring a different theme like wildlife, recycling, plant life), information cards about each theme, crayons or colored pencils, tables or designated areas for each station.
  • Directions:
    1. Set up different stations, each with a specific Earth Day coloring page and an information card related to the page’s theme.
    2. Have children rotate between stations, coloring and reading the information cards.
    3. Encourage discussions about what they learned at each station and how the coloring page relates to the theme (e.g., how recycling helps the planet and the importance of forests).
    4. Conclude with a group discussion about how these themes are interconnected and why they are important for Earth Day.

Create an Earth Day Mural

  • Objective: To promote teamwork and awareness about environmental conservation.
  • Materials: Large Earth Day coloring pages or a large roll of paper with a drawn Earth Day scene, coloring supplies (crayons, markers, paints), wall space, or a bulletin board.
  • Directions:
    1. Spread the large Earth Day coloring scene on a flat surface or hang it on a wall.
    2. Invite children to collaboratively color the mural, discussing their choices of colors and what each part of the picture represents.
    3. Once completed, display the mural in a common area.
    4. Hold a discussion or presentation where children explain different aspects of the mural and what they signify about Earth Day and environmental protection.

Coloring and Environmental Pledge

  • Objective: To encourage personal commitment to environmental conservation.
  • Materials: Earth Day coloring pages featuring nature scenes and environmental actions, crayons or markers, and a poster board for pledges.
  • Directions:
    1. Give each child an Earth Day coloring page and discuss the actions depicted (like planting trees, saving water, etc.).
    2. After coloring, ask the children to think about what they can do to help the Earth.
    3. Have them write a pledge on a poster board about an action they will take to protect the environment (e.g., “I pledge to turn off the lights when I leave a room”).
    4. Display the pledges alongside the colored pages as a reminder and inspiration.

These activities allow children to engage creatively with Earth Day themes while learning about and committing to environmental protection and conservation.
